Dyadic processes of relational turbulence theory

چکیده

This study tested dyadic processes of relational turbulence theory (RTT) in heterosexual marriages. We propositions 1, 2, and 5 RTT, which propose that uncertainty about the marriage biases cognitive appraisals, interference from a partner heightens negative emotions, both culminate for spouses. Guided by these propositions, husbands' wives' (N = 510; 255 marital dyads) emotional were estimated using actor-partner interdependence mediation model. Consistent with theoretical we found evidence actor-actor indirect effects; husbands wives (a) effect spouses' relationship on their own was mediated biased (b) experienced anger communicating marriage. However, controlling effects, partner-defined (i.e., partner-actor effects) uniquely explained turbulence.

Beyond Internal and External: a Dyadic Theory of Relational Attributions

Attribution theory argues that people assess the locus of causality of achievementrelevant events as either internal or external. Given the frequency of interpersonal interactions in organizations, we posit that a third category—relational attributions— may be used. Drawing on relational perspectives, we lay the conceptual foundation and develop a dyadic theory of relational attributions, propo...

Interpersonal Dominance in Relational Conflict: A View from Dyadic Power Theory

This investigation uses dyadic power theory (Dunbar, 2004; Dunbar & Burgoon, 2005a; Rollins & Bahr, 1976) to offer competing hypotheses examining the relationship between power and dominance in close relationships. Forty-seven couples engaged in a conversation while being videotaped; the tapes were coded by third-party observers for dominance. Participants rated themselves to be the most domina...

Brain, mind, and dyadic change processes.

For many individuals attachment trauma is at the core of psychoneurosis and personality disorder. Combining theoretical aspects of psychodynamic therapy, developmental neuroscience, and attachment styles provides a useful framework for intensifying emotion and accelerating the course of treatment. A bihemispheric model is considered. The model addresses the challenge in treating the implicit tr...

Stochastic Relational Models for Large-scale Dyadic Data using MCMC

Stochastic relational models (SRMs) [15] provide a rich family of choices for learning and predicting dyadic data between two sets of entities. The models generalize matrix factorization to a supervised learning problem that utilizes attributes of entities in a hierarchical Bayesian framework. Previously variational Bayes inference was applied for SRMs, which is, however, not scalable when the ...

Disentangling the Dyadic Dance: Theoretical, Methodological and Outcomes Systematic Review of Mother-Infant Dyadic Processes

Background: During the last decades, the research on mother-infant dyad has produced a great amount of data, methods and theories, which largely contributed to set a revolution in the way we look at developmental changes during infancy and childhood. Very different constructs depict the different aspects of the "dyadic dance" occurring between a mother and her infant; nonetheless, a comprehensi...
